WORTH CONSUMING!

Great read during my flight from Bahrain to Japan. Even though the ending was abrupt, I thought it was a great lead in to a sequel; the ending was more of a beginning. The poverty broke my heart but the lessons and fortitude that the author gained are priceless. “What doesn’t break you, only makes you stronger”....

WORTH CONSUMING!

I got through this book in under a week, I loved it. Frank McCourt is living proof that one can rise above a horrible childhood. This was a terrific story and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I loved this book. It made me cry and feel hopeful, all at once.

(completed November 2004)

I listened to the book on tape, so it was somewhat abridged. I think I missed something by not reading the book. I hope to sometime.

Ben told me ahead of time that everyone else thought the book was sad, but he found it funny. I listened to the story from this perspective, and it really was hilarious. I don’t think McCourt is trying to make the reader feel sorry for him, but to explain the humor of his hardships.

I am currently using my borrowed quota of books. A neat first-person tale as a child!

Morgan, my nonfiction teacher, was cleaning out her apartment and she decided to give some books away. I took this one. So far I am enjoying it; I have always loved the not-using-quotation-marks thing.

Mom recommended this book, and I found it at a used bookstore for $1.

I finished reading it, and I was thoroughly impressed with McCourt’s writing style.
