Frustrated!

So I’m reading this book for class, which as always means rediculous amounts of annotation. This has slowed my reading pace down to a complete crawl, and is making this book, which initially I found hilarious, just frustrating, repetitive and annoying.

...but so far away. If I hadn’t of read Catch-22 when I did, I probably wouldn’t have read it. However, the wisdom of Yosarian lives on!

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have just started reading this. It’s been on my “to read” list since about 1999 so it’s probably my longest running coveted book! Ha. I finally found it in my library a few weeks ago and I have to say, I’m loving it.

Reads like a movie script, with an amazing cast of quirky characters.

Quite funny. I’ve having trouble reading the small parts about that actual describe the war, but that’s just probably it hits close to home, coming from a military family and being military myself.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Perhaps the funniest book I’ve ever read. Also, one of the best ruminations on sanity and coercion and violence and the state of modern man in relation to power that I’ve ever read. In a time rife with the skewed, yet self-contained and inexorable logic of institutional madness, this seems more relevant than ever. Sane people in insane times have a hard go of it, basically. And yet, Yosssarian lives!

Cigno and I read this book over 100 times when we were growing up, but I haven’t read it in the past 10 years. It’s better than I recall.

Some classic scenes. My favourite: the presumed dead soldier.

A novel about the time and place for insanity. Wonderfully structured, leaping around through time and perspective as the characters and events are gradually shaded in.
