This one had a very sad ending, not merely unfortunate. However, the implied pun in Uncle Monty (the python keeper?) is unfortunate enough….. Still, a great diversion. The writing style irritated me less than the first one, perhaps because I’m becoming accustomed to it.

I liked this much more than the first book. Lots of fun (for the reader, if not the Baudelaires).
