WORTH CONSUMING!

whenever i would start to read it, i felt so surreal…like my body and my mind was being absorbed into this entire world, like i was there in his house. it was so relaxing, his house, so simple. then i would get completely flushed, my face burning whenever some crazy thing happened, like the side of his cheek. so weird. then, suddenly, i would snap back into reality and feel so dizzy and confused, my face still burning, and i would just daze into the air and start to think everything out so clearly, so vividly with all the perfect words.

this must sound so bizarre, haha, but pretty much, it’s worth reading this book very much… it’s 607 pages, at least in my version, but it’s very worth it. you really can get into it though. this book completely broke my 6 or 7 months of no reading. although i do admit, the fact that half of everything you read is not concrete whatsoever really bothered me, but it helps to let you identify with the main character.

huh, i feel like i just rambled a bit—ah well.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I don’t know how I heard about this book… it was someone online who mentioned it but I can’t remember who. I have tried to find out, sitting at the bottom of a darkened well searching for the answer, but as yet I haven’t been able to pass through and find it.

Surreal, disturbing and beautiful. This was a book i didn’t want to finish, I wanted to remain inside its covers. Now finished, I feel like i have lost a friend.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Every once in a while I stumble across a line that really kicks my ass and makes me wish I’d thought of it, that if I ever think of anything that good ever I’ll die happy.

There’s a point midway in here describing the protagonist’s relationship to the phone that isn’t ringing with a call from his missing wife. The phone is compared to a disguised sea creature at the bottom of th ocean that could come to life and change everything in an instant. I refrain from quoting it directly to encourage you to pick up the book and read it yourself.

When you come to it, you’ll see what I mean. Or not.

My favorite Murakami novel. Very, very good.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Almost finished it at my table while eating rice and vegetables, but on my walk home I felt like the walk was taking too long and therefore was forced to step into the Barnes & Noble bookstore on Pine and 6th or so and read it from the shelf.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Jimmy liked this book and had been talking it up for a long time. I was quite excited to begin it… and despite a somewhat slow start, this main character is growing on me. He’s so odd. Almost to the end now, I’m curious to see if this is one of those books that ties everything together, or one of those books that let’s everything remain untied together.

The hulabaloo being raised over “Kafka On the Shore” raised my interest in this author so a friend sent this to me.

This was my introduction to Murakami. Words can’t describe how good it is.
