WORTH CONSUMING!

I found some of the essays to be a bit grasping (please, folks, Buffy is a guilty pleasure, not an academic pursuit) and fueled by a sense of unfocused outrage, but many of them were insightful, enlightening and raised serious challenges to the status quo. Worth reading for Andi Zeisler’s essays alone – she’s a brilliant writer with thoughtful contributions to many ongoing sociopolitical debates.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have met both editors ANdi Jervis and Lisa Jervis at the recent “pop Goes the Feminist” at the Harvard Hallel and they were joined with Lynn Purl and Margret Price. The four women were charming and the book was even better than I expected. It’s broken down into eight chapters and each chapter is then subdivided into five or more short sections that were written in B_TCH magazine. it’s funny, inpsirational, thought provoking, outrageous, empowering and well written from the past ten years of the magazine. I loved the articles on Urianlysis, (funny and outrageous);Vuvla Goldmine (which I never heard about surgeons making loads of money at women’s expense mad me angry) What I like best about the book is that it was not about malebashing or blaming the problem always on men. It made intelligent statements about feminism, same sex marriages, lesbian couples and ethnic groups dealing with feminism. These women rock and please subscribe to their magazine, it’s wonderful. Peace.

((huggs)) Love, you. Geo :)
