Though I read this quite some time ago, I can still vividly recal the emotions, characters, situations, and plotlines that comprise this story. A good read. A beautiful story.

I found it quite interesting that his writing flowed from present to past and back again quite seamlessly. Nice.

Can’t say I particularly like Guterson’s writing style, but this book seems to have received a lot of praise, so I’m going to stick it out and see if it gets better.

Edited to add: It got better. Guterson’s writing didn’t change much, but I grew accustomed to it, and after a while the story really drew me in. This was the first time in a while that I stayed up till the wee hours of a morning to finish a book.
