This is a very well written and acted look into a suburban polygamists family. After watching it, I don’t think anyone would envy the life of a polygamist based on the family’s infighting not only within their own home but with their screwed up relatives. I think it treats the subject very fairly, even through it seems like there is a nonstop list of problems facing the family every day. All the characters fit together perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle and that’s not easy to do, nor to take such different personalities and weave them into a cohesive family. But that’s what makes this series brilliant. I know I originally watched season one in 2008, and still waiting for Netflix to get season 3 so I can get caught up.

Agreed with other reviews of this: it hasn’t taken over my existence like some other TV shows have in the past (Buffy, Six Feet Under, Firefly, Weeds… is where I’m coming from) but I’ve definitely grown attached enough that in the couple of weeks since I finished the last episode of Season 2, I’ve been missing it a touch. I think it got off to a little bit of a slow start, too, that said: Season 2 I got more into than Season 1.

It’s good. It’s intriguing. It didn’t take over my whole existence like Six Feet Under but I did enjoy it.

It’s like the polygimist version of The Sopranos . . . sort of. Not quite as griping as The Sopranos or Six Feet Under but I liked it and got invested with the characters (Margene is my fave). Season 2 just started so I’m looking forward to watching that…..

I watched the first 6 episodes when I had free HBO, then Netflixed discs 3 and 4. I only watched disc 3 and sent 4 back without watching it. I figure if I don’t want to consume the rest of it, it counts as not worth consuming. It really doesn’t compare to Rome, The Wire, Lost, etc. It does have its moments though.
