What makes a city vital? Jane Jacobs attempted to answerr this question in 1961, and created a classic of urban planning.

I never completed this book, as much of it is now the truism of the age, but it was still nice to read some of the source material.

This book kept on being referenced by other books I’ve recently read: Linked, Emergence, and even Celebration (that book about Disneyland’s city by the same name). I bought it on a whim the other day and have to say that the first few pages have been great. I look forward to taking this book with me on my next trip.
