I’ve watched this series in one go this afternoon (I’m stuck on my couch with a stomach flu). I liked it, but I don’t entirely agree with all the lofty comparisons to Austen series. The lead characters & romance have similarities to Pride & Prejudice, but the mood and setting of this series are very different, making this (to me) a very different viewing experience. It’s far more grim and cold (seems like the entire town is grey and dusty blue). And it was interesting to see industry & the working class in that age.
Overall there wasn’t that much focus on the romance. The ending did feel a bit rushed, but yeah, it was good :)

LADIES! If you are looking for some new material to watch along the lines of the much vaunted Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth, this is certainly calling your name. All I will say is that the ending definitely doesn’t dissapoint!
