WORTH CONSUMING!

Well, this book took me a long time to read, mostly because it wasn’t the sort of book that I can read quickly, and without putting it down. It wasn’t a bad book, but there were parts of it that really seemed to drag by. It was very well written, though, and during some parts it was actually funny. I left the book feeling a little sorry for Humbert, and getting much more appreciation for Dolly. I actually really liked the last few chapters of the book, and found the ending to be quite good. It didn’t leave me with a weird, disappointed sort of feeling that I’ve gotten from a few other books.

Not as satisfying of a read as I hoped.

Naughty!

I first read Lolita when I was obsessed with the Russian language. Lost in the translation, perhaps, but I never experienced the sympathy for Humbert as I imagine I was supposed to. More bored. Certainly not scandalous in these times.

I enjoyed this book. I read it during a time my parents were upset with me for being with an older man.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I read this for the first time in college, expecting some super cheesy and lame story about a pedophile. It’s of course nothing like that at all, and tops the list of my favorite books of all time. Nabokov is a genius, a subtle post-modernist and expert word-craftsman.
