I heard various recommendations for Carver (largely from asofterworld.com, which has fantastic writings). Carver is brief yet descriptive, but these stories AREN’T about love for the most part, and are too often about hunting and fishing (which bore me) and death (which often saddens me.)

I love the simplicity of Carver’s writing. His stories are so beautiful and finely crafted.

It’s about damn time that I read some Raymond Carver. Too many people say I’d like him.

Raymond Carver makes me want to cry. For so many reasons. To be able to create such syntax-simple, yet emotionally powerful prose is a true gift. I had forgotten how much I had loved his stories.
