Ok, this was enjoyable in many ways but I really don’t like Blue’s penchant for almost-fantasy, wherein she doesn’t have to bother world-building or explaining anything in any sensible way, but relies on coincidence, parallels, and vague connections to fit her story together. One of those books I would have loved as a kid, but which fails to satisfy me as a more sophisticated reader. Many children’s books can accomplish both.
