Read by cell phone light again last night. On page 77. Im having a problem with the language though. I really dont like to read or hear the N word for any reason! It troubles me and pings in my head like a rubber ball in water.

Last night I read with the light of my cell phone, so I wouldn’t wake the baby, (pushing a number button every minute and a half so the light would come back on) in bed for about an hour. I didn’t understand the fight in the alley. The girl Mick… people have called me mick from the time I was two years old… she seems alot like me so far.

So far so good. I’m about 10 pages in and waiting to be able to pick it up again.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I didn’t know this was an ‘Oprah’ book when I started this, and was a trifle put out when learning it was. When I started Heart, I wasn’t sure if I would like it or where it was going; it seemed kind of pushy/preachy for me in the evry beginning. It grew on me however, and am happy that i didn’t set it aside. I’ve noticed a couple things in the actual mechanics of the writing itself that I believe may have directly influenced other more recent writer’s works.

I read this last year. I probably wouldn’t have finished it if it wasn’t lauded as one of the best books of the 20th century. The characters were memorable, but I’m not sure what I the author intended for the reader to learn.

I thought I’d hate this because it was an Oprah’s BC selection, and as a rule I’ve really disliked the other books she’s picked.

This one…not so bad. I’m still not quite sure what the point is, but it’s readable.
