Perhaps because I wasn’t that enamoured of the first two, but I thought this was okay. Overall plot was slim – as ever – but there were enough funny moments to keep me going. I loved the subtle ones I spotted – the frog chorus (bum, bum bum eye-i-eye!) singing McCartney’s Live and Let Die had me as a solo chuckler!
Otherwise, I confess the supporting cast were much better than the slightly annoying leads (what is going on with Shrek’s accent?!), especially the donkey/dragon babies (is there irony in seeing Eddie Murphy’s Donkey giving parenting advice the day Murphy himself announces to the world that his daughter wasn’t wanted?!) and the ever wonderful Puss in Boots. And the various princesses were quite amusing, I guess.
Overall, not worth the hype, but a fun enough 80-odd minutes.
