NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I had hopes that this would be an entertaining bit of fun – the movie is about a dancing penguin. The animation is gorgeous – really stunning. However, the movie is really bad. The characters are not only one-dimensional, they are stereotypes and not in a way that even makes sense. I can only imagine that someone did a poll that determined that children like “accents” and they tried to toss in as many as possible. I was appalled about some “dance moves,” etc., that were really not appropriate for the goal audiences, but the entire film felt, especially towards the end, as if it had lost focus on who they were making the movie for – the quick flashes of humans arguing at the end would be way over the head of most children and the message could have been gotten across much more cleverly. I felt that maybe the movie was conceived of and written by a committee – “Um, what’s cool right now?” “Penguins are really cool.” “Yeah, and the environment.” “Okay, let’s make a movie about that, but add some music, but instead of writing our own, let’s just use previous hits – who cares that it doesn’t make any sense at all?” I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

What I learned while watching “Happy Feet” 2006:
During the cold season, the penguin mates separate for several months to protect the egg. Usually, the male stays with the egg and keeps it warm while the female goes to sea to find food for the baby. When the female comes back, they switch roles.
Probably the reason penguins are so friendly, is that living in Antarctica as they are, they are not as susceptible to human predators.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Dude, I barely couldn’t wait for this to end! Still I waited until the end to see if it would get better, but it didn’t. :/
There are some good parts, but still not worth it at all!

It’s odd to think there could be too much of singing, dancing penguins, but here we have just that. It actually reminded me of Moulin Rouge, with all the versions of modern songs.

Pluses: the Hispanic penguin group, lead by Robin Williams – funneee! And the moment a live-action person is blended in with the animation – works very well.

Negatives: the super-strong dose of preaching. We’re stealing their fish, people!! And it gets very samey with the musical scenes, I’m afraid.

Still, glad I saw it once.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Oh my god! Awful! Seriously. I was looking forward to watching it, and I agree with almost all of the points that the movie makes, but this movie was completely dribble. I swear it was set up to brainwash your children.

I strongly recommend watching this before you put it on in front of your children. No swearing, no violence, just a really strong message.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I watched it tonight with our grandson. He loved it. It is a good kid’s movie. That make it worth consuming.

It does deliver a message to save our environment, etc.
