A story about this — 10 weeks ago
As a story in its own right, and the finale of the Prequels trilogy, I rather enjoyed this. There’s action and intrigue, and views of other bits of the Dune-universe that are fun to explore.
However, it’s not really to be compared with the original, methinks. This was always going to be the most difficult one, as the ‘next’ chronological book is the definitive Dune. I rather feel the authors of Corrino just left a large enough gap between events so that the bits that don’t entirely tie up are less noticable. Mainly, though, there are just a lot of characters and situations here that are ‘dropped’ from the next part of the story – although as that was written first… eep.
Anyway. Read it, and enjoyed doing so enough to make it worthwhile.
