What can I say?? “The Office” is the best!

This evening, I settled in with Season 2 of The (American) Office. I’ve seen all of the British version, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but it took me a while to warm to the American version. The first few episodes follow the British series very closely, and it was painful to watch. Then, the American version branched out in it’s own direction, and it got considerably better. It’s very different from the British series, but funny in it’s own way.

I am so happy I bought this! It’s even better than Season 1 (I know some people say Season 1 isn’t even good but we really liked it). I loved everything!

The characters are still just as lovable and it was great to get to know them more this season. It’s a big cast but yet no character seems under-developed. The turn-around of Kelly’s personnality was a bit of a shock, but I loved Kelly/Ryan so much that I suspended my disbelief!

Every development was great, from Michael’s usual antics to Dwangela to the heartbreaking Jim/Pam finale. We laughed all the way and sometimes held our breath or were close to tears (well, just me, my boyfriend doesn’t cry much for fictional characters).

There’s great acting, great writing, great directing. I really dig the “documentary” style (especially when Pam discovers that Dwight and Angela are dating with the camera people’s help), it’s unusual. In fact, the entire show is unusual and I think that it’s great that they have the guts to air such a show on prime time. (Of course the gambling paid off, too.)

The bonus features of this set are great too. They added some really funny stuff, including the webisodes (The Accountants) and some really funny NBC promos.

I know people are all blah blah blah “original uk office” but I think the american version has come into it’s own right. I think this may be the hands-down best comedy series ever. Screw Seinfeld, screw Friends. This is it. I am not even exaggerating. And you NEED to watch the blooper reel on Disc 4. And watch all the deleted/extended scenes, they are almost better than the original episodes. If The Office were ever to die, I would die without it. I am suffering from asphyxiation with it on it’s holiday hiatus the way that it is…

AS IF they would end the 2nd season like that. And I can’t start the 3rd season because we don’t have NBC in Canada unless you get cable, which we don’t have!
