WORTH CONSUMING!

This was extremely hit or miss. I loved arrondissements Ve (Berges/Chadha), IVe (Van Sant), XVIe (Salles/Thomas) and VIIe (Chomet), but loathed Ier (Coen brothers), XIIIe (Doyle) and VIIIe (Natali). Most else was decent but forgettable.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is an anthology of shorts by different directors, each taking one of the arrondissements as its subject. These kind of things are always a mish mash, but there was just enough delicately good stuff here to sustain it as a whole… ok, except for maybe the vampire bit, which made me want to turn the screener off right in the middle. 14e arrondissement directed by Alexander Payne was really strong, and I always love anything by Olivier Assayas, so Quartier des Enfants Rouges did not dissapoint me. But Tom Tykwer’s Faubourg Saint-Denis was a knock-out. I want to watch that about 10 more times.

WORTH CONSUMING!

My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or other of us has got to go.” Great quote alluded to in the movie…

WORTH CONSUMING!

Many of the shorts in this collection were excellent, but “Faubourg Saint-Denis”, set in the Xe, by Tom Tykwer, starring Melchior Beslon and Natalie Portman was stunningly great.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Envie de vivre à Paris. De voir ou revoir tous ces lieux.
Une succession de courts métrages plus ou moins inteéessants mais très agréables dans l’ensemble.
