Damn. This book was supposedly so great. I feel like everyone who really loves it… they must not have ever been exposed to diddly-squat when it comes to transgendered themes, so reading this was some real revelatory experience for them. And that is great, I mean it’s great that people are stepping outside themselves a bit and really connecting with these issues of sexuality and gender that they maybe never thought of before, but I reserve some small personal right to begrudge them the popular success of their eye-opener. Not worth a Pulitzer in any way, shape or form. A solid beach book. The fact that this is so vaunted is some kind of ironic exoticism.
