Why I recommend this — 35 weeks ago
This movie was really what I was hoping Candy, another Australian film starring Abbie Cornish would be.
Heidi, a teenage girl, is caught kissing her mother’s boyfriend, and runs away rather than face the consequences. She’s interesting to watch as she avoids intimacy and comes up with various ways to hurt herself between finding a job at a petrol station and interacting with Joe, a local farm boy and fellow lost soul.
This is one of the most erotic movies I’ve seen in quite some time, not because of sex scenes, but because of scenes that linger on little moments that feel very genuine. The winter cinematography is also beautiful. Heidi stands out in a world of icy blues and whites.
