WORTH CONSUMING!

This was a reread of an old favorite, and although this time around I didn’t find the characters as compelling or the story as tightly woven as during the first reading, I was still completely charmed by the idea of achieving immortality simply by breaking the bad habit of growing old and dying. Why not? And the story’s central message - just lighten up already - is one that will always ring true.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Probably my favorite Tom Robbins book – though I’ve enjoyed all I’ve read (which is quite a few at this point). Pan, perfume, death- defying kings, messages from the other side to “lighten-up”, jitterbug dance crazes, New Orleans, floral consciousness, pruning brain cells and red beets!.... how can one tie all this together!
He’s a master!

As far as Robbins goes, this is a close second to “Still Life with Woodpecker” for me. I think “Still Life” wins only because it was my first Robbins novel ever. But “Jitterbug Perfume” is just as magical and lovely!

I’m only at the beginning but there is something endearing about a book that seems to be preoccupied with beetroot.
