First of all, Dennis Quaid in full clown getup at the start of the film is strange. The stringy red wig, the makeup, the satin pants—I didn’t know anywhere safe to look.
There are some very beautiful visual effects in this movie. Turquoise fiesta ware, turquoise mobile home. Vida’s green ensemble, down to the cigarette. The fireworks scene at the mini golf. But some of the fire effects are very primitive.
The plot is so-so, but not terrible.
The barbershop/acapella music is a welcome addition, I give them full marks.
