Go read it realistic sci fi lovers — 7 years ago

I loved this book. I am NOT a big reader. In fact, a few arthur C Clarke books and ‘Choke’ are the only ones i have read in the past 5 years voluntarily.

Rama I is the only book actually written by Clarke…the following versions were just proof read / reviewed by him. Rama is a gripping book, with decent characters (not the best though), but super gripping and realistic pictures of a futuristic societies aircraft and its inner workings. I do remember that some parts of the book drug on a little, but overall it was like exploring a new land with the characters. I like exploring.

I am on Arthur C Clarkes Childhood’s End now. His books are the only ones that I can read and enjoy and turn the page to. They seem like they could really happen, as if based off of a split personality of our society. He is famous for first invisioning the idea of orbital satellites and a few other scientific gadgets. Really a true visual of the future.

This is hard science fiction, plain and simple. There’s nothing more thrilling than a first contact, and Clarke proves it with this tale.

The later works however weren’t so great.

I’m never quite sure what to make of Arthur C. Clarke novels. Each time I read one, I come away thinking—this is considered one of the GREATS of sci-fi? Same thing here…it’s an interesting concept, but it just didn’t particularily grab my attention the way an Asimov story does.
