Definately worth the read… one of Austin’s classics. One of the best books you’ll ever read (the others on the list will all include Jane Austin books too).

Definately worth the read… one of Austin’s classics. One of the best books you’ll ever read (the others on the list will all include Jane Austin books too).
This book was my second try at reading Jane Austen – at first I started Emma (because it’s J.K. Rowling’s favorite book, and I am such a dork) but my English probably wasn’t good enough and I found it very hard to understand, so I didn’t get past the first few pages.
In P&P’s case, I saw two screen adaptations (1995 and 2005) before reading the book. I think it helped me a lot to understand the book (well, duh!), and my English got a bit better too, so I really enjoyed reading it! I had fun recognising the lines from the movie, too.
The characters are fully-fleshed and endearing, the writing is interesting and witty, and the story is just plain great. I read it in the bus going back and forth to work and had the greatest trouble in leaving it once I arrived! I read it quickly and really couldn’t put it down. I now wish to read every other book she has written… but I’ll take my time because with only 6 books it’s going to end quickly ;)
It took me enough attempts… three by my count… but I think I am finally amicably enough oriented toward my own sex that I recognize the satirical style of the novel.
For whatever reason, this book is my favorite. I have read it over and over! The characters, to me, are so full of life. The witty dialogue and the anticipation in this book are a huge part of why I love it….I guess it’s hard to explain why I like it, I just do!
officially my FAVOURITE book of all time! :)
i can see in the near future reading it again. and then reading jane austen’s other books!
about halfway through. taking awhile just because i’m pacing myself, since i don’t need to read it straight away for my class.
My room mate and I have started a book club. And one of my co-workers joined as well. He seems to like British Lit. Not my favoUrite, but oh well!
i was inspired by the movie ’you’ve got mail’ to read pride & prejudice and godfather …
both are great novels
This book is simply marvelous!
I loved it so, so much!
The dialogue is splendid – Jane Austen was a genius!
I feel like this will be one of those books which I will reread a hundred times and always love it a little more!
Everyone should read it, don’t be prejudiced (;P) that it’s got the romantic plot in it, it’s such a bitting description of the society, it’s manners and vanities, and done so in such an exiting on-the-edge-of-your-seat way that you’ll forget about that and be emerged by the book pronto – I sure did.
well, i technically haven’t started reading it yet, but i will start imminently! i cannot wait! :)
Just read this for the first time and am now completely obsessed with the story.
After first reading this book at the age of thirteen, I could not wait to find my own Mr. Darcy. Witty romance not found on a grocery store bookshelf is the only appealing romance writing there is.
This is by far my favorite Austen novel and definitely one of my all-time favorites.
I watch the BBC version of this book over and over again, loving every word and phrase, tone of meaning and character personality. The book is slightly more proper and upright, but it is a good classic, only it is not my favourite of Jane Austen’s like everyone else says.
I love reading this and hearing the BBC characters in my head….
