What I learned from reading “A Brief History of Time”:

The doppler effect is that the pitch intensifies the closer an object gets to us, and the lower it gets as it passes.

That Galileo’s observance of Jupiter’s moons, and the fact that they revolved around Jupiter, was the driving force behind the “the universe doesnt revolve around us” theory.

The “string theory” started in 1964.

That I am no physicist!!!

WORTH CONSUMING!

Can someone fix that mixed-up authors-name line? Yes, Amazon has it scrambled. That’s no excuse. The book is by Stephen W. Hawking, with an introduction by Carl Sagan. Hopefully, Amazon will fix their scrambled-up author’s line, too!

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Hugely over-rated. There are better books out there if you want to read about this stuff.

WORTH CONSUMING!

First book on Physics ever since I finished college. A good book to get your gears working again :)

The book is well written and easy on the beginners (to Physics).

Particularly enjoyed the part about the Negative time Axis. Also got to know about ‘The Chandrashekar Limit’

I keep getting stuck at the beginning of this book. However there are sections inside which I can open to and follow quite readily. Maybe I shouldn’t force myself to read it through from the beginning to end.

Also, after borrowing it from Josh, I realized I’d already picked it up in a stack of books from the goodwill store. So I really should return his copy.
