If you read one book this year then you don’t read enough. On the other hand, if you read many books this year, “Blood Sucking Fiends: a Love Story” should be one of them. I have yet to read a Chris Moore book that I didn’t like. His characters are terrific, his stories are creative (if not a little morbid) and he is very funny. This book was no exception.

I’m sort of wishy-washy about this book. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. The plot line was interesting. The characters were a bit flat. Christopher Moore’s overly phallic descriptions kind of annoyed me. I think I will definitely try another book by this author before I form an opinion on whether I like him or not. I will say this though, he had an interesting take on the age old, boy meets vampire falls in love story line. I particularly enjoyed the fact that even someone who was a vampire would have angst. Even though I feel Anne Rice explores that theme more effectively.
