This film was very disjointed. There was no narration to pull it together and it ends abruptly. I think the point is to show us how schools influence children’s values, not just their academics. Beyond that, it seemed to have very little to say. The scene where the female student and principal and teacher were meeting to discuss the possible length of her proposed prom dress was hilarious (although not intended to be). Mostly what I got out of this was that being a student in 1968 was a whole lot less complicated (even though it had its own stressors) than being a student in times since. The teachers and principals did really seem to care about the students (even if they were misguided at times). They were doing the best they could with the information they had at the time.
