Enjoyed reading this book. Bought it to find out more about what goes behind the creation of a comic book, and ended up learning a lot about art in general.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Think comics are one dimensional fluff?.....Welll think again.
This book is a very thought provoking, insighful work on the history of the Drawn word. It’s also very abstract and sometimes way too smart for me.
But it’s a very good book.

A story about this — 4 years ago

Finished this one around the start of April ‘05. Well, almost finished…the library book I borrowed was missing a few pages. I’ll have to hunt around for another copy.

I thought this was a really interesting look at how comics “work” as an art form. There are actually a lot of artistic conventions that comics employ and that, moreover, are unique to comics that work to help readers and comics artists connect. Sort of in the way that languages have conventions for how to communicate. I really enjoyed this, and it’s a fairly quick read.
