I believe that Gwynne is becoming the “Writer of the Secret Sisters”. Sisters who are good people otherwise, but they have some secret or something that they shield it from the ones that truly love them; You have this woman, Jackie Parkton, who has a Ph.D. nothing wrong with that; Her mother dies and her father wipes out his own savings to take of his late wife’s medical bills; with a medical crisis of his own, Jackie steps in and works at an exclusive all male club at night(after her regular job at a magazine) serving drinks to the clientele to pay for that expense. It is there that she meets hotelier Warren HOlcomb, who also has a club in Harlem for the kids that live there. The two omeet, fall in love despite of Jackie’s “secret” and stay in big time bliss until the bubble bursts. Great story.
