I was a fairly well surprised by the over-the-top performances and campy musicality. Any movie that can surprise me so much that I’m either laughing or staring in astonishment—well, that’s a movie that’s alright in my book.

Solid performances from a high profile cast. Quirky but enjoyable writing and directing from Turturro. Whimsical music and dance numbers.

I like weird movies, and I like musicals, so a weird musical should be right up my alley—especially with James Ganolfini in the lead. Now, Sweeney Todd is definitely a weird musical and that.was.AWESOME.

Romance and Cigarettes? Very far from awesome. Now I totally get why this was on super-special at hmv.
