NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Perhaps there is something wrong with me.

Yes, I know that this author is loved round the world, despite her self-professed dislike of children. Anyoen who reads her books should be able to clearly see how much she dislikes them; deaht, suffering, torture, and sadness strike every character, in every book, and it actually gets WORSE as the story wears on.

As far as I’m concerned, you’d have to be a full-blown sociopath, incapable of any human empathy for the characters of this series, not to be profoundly disturbed by the awful, hideous fate the author delivers onto her main character. If you think Dumbledore being tortured to retrieve an ultimately useless relic is fun, please avoid me. If you think you’d like to live in this world, you require psychological help. This tale is a grim medley, punctuated with hatred, bigotry, racism, abuse of pretty much every kind, neglect and murder.

Oh, but it’s all set in the wonderful world of Chaotic Neutral magic, so it’s fun all ’round!

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

And to those still foolish enough to wish to live in this world, I say to you; death and sadness, in every book.

WORTH CONSUMING!

NOt my favorite book, but it was better than having to deal with Stupid ole’ Fudge and Umbridge. (BTW- Emma Thompson, I’m still pissed at her (Umbridge) so your better not come around me still anytime soon).

Can’t wait for the last installment, even though I know how it ends.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is another good entry in a fun series. While I love cliffhangers, this one was just a bit too open ended for my tastes. Certainly glad I waited until just before the final book came out to read this one. Still, the characters were great as always and the story moved fairly rapidly.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book has the ability to suck me in, gargle me around, and spit me out in the depths of depression. It takes a second to get draw in but before long, you’re along for the intense ride that Dumbledore and Harry embark upon. Re-reading this for the third time, I had forgotten how sad and crazy it gets towards the end. But it just makes you hungry for the last book!

I also love how the language and behaviors of Harry & Company have also grown through the years. JK Rowling has had this uncanny ability to really understand that these characters are growing and changing throughout the years. Amazingly creative; it’s a difficult series to match in continuity and interest.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is my third or fourth reading of this one and somehow the ending makes me sadder and madder each time. I’m now basically counting the minutes until July 21st!

WORTH CONSUMING!

I got this book from Barnes & Noble at one of the midnight sales. It was great, though somewhere along the line I lost my wallet [huge, loose pockets :( ]. Several people were dressed up as some of the characters: Tonks with spiked pink hair, Snape, and an odd woman with a stuffed Hedwig. I still have my plastic HP glasses and I’ve framed the free HBP poster they gave away. This is the second time I’ve read it.

My husband read this when it first came out and didn’t think so highly of it. Me, I liked it pretty well. Lots of possibilities for that final year. The whole series has been a great hoot.
