This is definitely a beautiful movie. From the set design to the costumes to the lighting I had the sense that the movie was set inside of a painting. I just wish there had been more character development – I never really got to know the butcher, the painter, or Scarlett’s character very well. I felt it was slow moving but I kept watching because it was so gorgeous.

Probably one of the most frustratingly subtle S&M flicks ever made. Scarlett Johansson didn’t act so much as mug like a deer in the headlights with porn lips. Images of Jon Lovitz doing his SNL “Tales of RrrIBALDRY!!” commentary kept popping into my head throughout. Worth seeing for that.
