Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy isn’t just a really wacky scifi story. It’s also incredibly clever speculation on what life would be like if this were a universe of extremes. What if you could make something happen no matter how small the odds? What if everything you could imagine manufacturing grows naturally somewhere, just because the universe is infinite? Etc. And to top it all off, there are dollops of humour in the intensely funny situations his characters find themselves caught up in. This “trilogy” (5 books) is the product of an amazingly inventive mind. Douglas Adams was a genius.
