I love the cheap sets and costumes. I love the all-powerful computer Orac made of neon plexiglas & christmas lights. The extensive use of plastics and reflective tape, and yet, they occassional expensive designer Le Corbusier Chaise Lounge shows up. I think all of this and more is just fantastic. Every single screen shot makes me smile. I’m on Season 2 right now, and anything could happen and I love that. The crazy sets and costumes drew me in, and now I’m obsessed with everything about it. Just watched an episode with Deep Roy, the guy that played all of the oompa loompa’s in Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It’s all so much fun. Sure sometimes the acting is terrible, you can see Travis’ functional eye thru his eye patch, and other goofy mistakes, but that just adds to the fun. It’s fantastic.

It’s a big nostalgia thing for me. I remember being allowed to stay up and watch it when I was a kid, but seeing it now reminds me about how much I loved it.

OK - the sets and costumes are rubbish. And it really does show its age. And practically everyone speaks in RP, except for Vila, but then, he’s a bit of a comedy object. But otherwise, it’s scripted well and well acted. definitely worth watching. Just don’t expect amazing special effects! It looks like they had a budget of about £50 for the whole series!
