Good conclusion to the two-book Skandian arc. Will and Evanlyn have escaped the Skandians, but they immediately brush up against the invading Temujai. What intentions do the Temujai have against the Skandians? As the Temujai are a thinly veiled version of the Mongols of the Middle Ages, this book contains some good lessons on Mongol military tactics – something I read about in The Mongol Empire by Prawdin. I enjoyed this book, fourth in the excellent Ranger’s Apprentice series.
