I first watched this on VHS years ago, and only had vague recollections about it. But I never realized how truly weird this movie is until I re-watched it recently. Three down and out scientists set up a Ghostbusting business in an abandoned firehall, there’s a refrigerator that opens into a hell dimension, and the big bad is a giant marshmallow man? That is a little weird, all right. But it says something for the movie that its engrained itself in our popular culture and we don’t really find it that odd. It’s funny, exciting, and sure the special effects seem a little primitive, but it’s twenty-five years old so I’m cutting it a little slack. Still fun and (mostly) fresh.
