As the second, disregarded son with a dead wife, no prospects and a daughter, Udo has to survive, and this survival leads him to becoming the food taster for the cruel Duke Federico, who fancies his daughter.

The narrator seems realistically preoccupied with bodily function, which at some times made me want to put down the book and never pick it up again. The plot, though predictable, was entertaining in a Boccaccio kinda way. It’s a good story.

I can’t put this down. It’s seriously good. Plus, there was that part about the protagonist fucking a sheep….
