3 dollars at Tattered Cover Bookstore, something to do this past summer but I hated the 7 different endings, or however many there were. I wanted to chuck this book in the trash after reading it, not gonna lie.

Sort of in the same vein as the Gen-X/Microserfs era of Coupland (which I love), but not a copy-cat. It’s somewhat darker and less focused in general. Weiss doesn’t use as tight a narrative structure (despite the book’s sometimes heavy-handed, multi-layered videogame metaphor) as those early books of Coupland. Also, I was sorely disappointed by the ending. Whatever Weiss intended was completely lost on me, and it comes across as a cop-out. All that being said, it’s still worth the read, especially if you grew up on classic video games.
