NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I know lots of people love it, but I just have the hardest time with it. I couldn’t even finish it, because so many things in it just don’t make any sense (usually I love imaginative stories).

I guess, if somebody told me what’s so wonderful about it and not just the fact that it is supposedly wonderful then I might try it again. Looking through somebody else’s eyes might help me to discover its beauty. Until the, I prefer to work on other books on my list.

Bought this classic at Border’s today to read with Ella-a nice diversion from Oz. We read the first chapter tonight, and at the end I asked her some questions about what had happened and she could answer them all, so she’s following the plot. I asked her how she thought Alice could reach the key up on the table now that she’s so small-looking forward to chpt. 2—and she said, “I don’t know, maybe she could drink her milk so she’ll grow up to be big and strong, then she could reach it.” What a smart girl.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is my favourite book and has been since I was a little girl. One can never be too old for Alice.

One of my childhood favourites. “The Walrus and the Carpenter” was the first poem I ever memorised of my own free will.

I’d forgotten how much fun this book is to read. And a lot of the puns and wordplay that I picked up on this time would have passed right over my head last time I read this. I’m glad I read it again.
