Not Like the Chapelle Show — 2 years ago
This wasn’t like the Chapelle show at all. It was more of a documentary of Chapelle inviting people to a concert. It wasn’t funny at all.

It’s been a cool minute since I actually liked a DVD enough to want to buy it. I used to buy DVD’s like it was nuthin. I’d buy without viewing in theatres, over renting it for a test spin first. But in the age of Netflix (props to the innovator, but I’m a Blockbuster Online girl myself, but that’s for another entry), I’m all about renting for the long haul (i.e. until I get around to mailing the DVD back). Either way, I highly recommend buying Dave Chappelle’s Block Party.
I saw the movie in theatres, and loved that experience. I haven’t had a gratifying collective moviegoing experience in a while, but this film reminded me of why seeing a movie on the big screen with an audience is so great. A lot of people left in the middle of the movie, I assume because they were expecting a Chappelle’s Show type film and not a docu-concert film. Still, it was awesome. The soundtrack is solid. If you enjoy any or most of these artists you must see this film and cop the soundtrack. The DVD extras include a making of the film
