A story about this — 5 years ago

While this is ‘fiction’, the sad reality is that this is the life of many seemingly well to do children. I worked first hand with children like these and it is seriously depressing.

There is a reason that their parents (ok, usually just the Dad) works like a dog… so the can pay for therapy later. If you are interested in the socialite scene then this is a book for you.

The mother of this child wants nothing more than to appear to be a good wife, mother, socialite, woman about town. Unfortunately this hollow exisitance is serious.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Depressing book, mostly since you know there are really people out there like that. Reading so much of the way that they treated Nan made me so angry, just reminded me of so many people I’ve met that like to take advantage and manipulate others. And I’m almost sure a lot of this was based on real experience of the authors which is sad. Great read all around though.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I listened to this book way back when I had an Audible.com subscription. I highly enjoyed the book the first time around, even though I wasn’t actually reading it.

The second time around I was mostly annoyed with it, however. Maybe it was because I was reading it so quickly. Maybe it was because I already knew what was going to happen. I’m not very good at watching or reading things multiple times.

It’s hard to believe that there are people who care so little about their own children. The fact that this book was written by real-life nannies makes the plot even more stomach-wrenching.

Maybe I’m just a sucker for nice, frilly chick-lit books, but this one didn’t leave me satisfied and frankly, just left me completely depressed.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really liked this book, it’s quick, easy to read and held my interest.

However, the ending reminded me of those sitcoms that get really serious, you know the ones’, “Next, on a very special Scrubs…”

Possible Spoiler alert:

If it were me, the ending would have had Nanny moving in with the guy into the same building the kid lived, so she could see him frequently. The real ending was so sad. That’s jes’ me.
