NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This made me realize that the Jack The Ripper story can really only be retold so many ways, and having already slogged through one repetitive-feeling book on the subject, this actually put me to sleep.

Also, Heather Graham has no rightful place in Victorian England.

Poor film, only recommendable for fans of Jack The Ripper — 4 years ago

Akin to “”http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095388">Jack The Ripper" – starring Michael Caine – this film is a mish-mash of bad tempi, bad acting, sloppy direction and a quite poor script that’s wasted on good actors such as Johnny Depp, Ian Holm and Robbie Coltrane. This film made me lose interest more than once, which is bad considering I’m a serial killer-fan. While The Hughes Brothers have directed the massive “”http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107554">Menace II Society", this film is far off that past greatness. Recommended only for those very interested in Jack The Ripper.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

If you like period pieces and are at all interested in Jack the Ripper, you will definitely enjoy this film. There was a bit of gore but it was fairly tame overall, despite the suggestion on the NetFlix DVD sleeve that it is “not for the faint of heart.” The “love story” between Depp/Graham was underdeveloped at best. Cinematography was fantastic and Depp was, as always, brilliant. Still, I want my two hours and one minute back.
