WORTH CONSUMING!

I picked up a copy of this in NYC at a Goodwill when I was living there for a month, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life.

Having gone through a similar stage in my life (down times, existential crises, etc.), finally having read this was a cathartic experience.

I’d also recommend A Million Little Pieces and Catcher in the Rye (probably read this, eh?) if you enjoyed The Bell Jar.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The book gave me a look into how my Grandmother may feel during one of her episodes (she has schizophrenia).

Not profound literature, but it had frighteningly large resonance for me. I’ve thought so many of Esther’s observations and felt the same disdain and disappointment for other people. I seem to be the target demo of this book, however, so I wonder how I’d feel about Esther ten years from now.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was always told to stay away from this book when I was in high school by my teachers, because they thought it would be too difficult to understand. I wish I would have never listened to them and read this book a bit sooner, because I understood it all too well.
