A story about this — 3 years ago
Anna of Byzantium is the story of an exiled Princess and how she went from being heir to the throne to being forced to retreat to a convent away from palace life. The narrative details her childhood and revolves around her education and the actions of her manipulative grandmother and brother. I enjoyed this book very much. Anna is a very fleshed out character — a good mix of noble qualities and flaws. It is hard not to sympathize with her as her planned life crumbles around her. Very good book! I’d love to see a movie made out of it. Read December 2008
