I just agreed to teach a developmental reading course beginning next month, and this is the novel that they’d already ordered for it. I’m looking forward to dusting off those lit major brain cells and doing something other than composition for a change. I just bought my own copy today (I read my borrowed copy twice already) so I can start underlining and taking notes.

Deftly interwoven narrative. Recommended adolescent fiction for all.

I finished this book this morning. Wonderful, light summer reading!

I read it in a couple days and loved it.

I love Louis Sachar. This is very different from his Wayside School stuff, but incredibly clever and interesting.

What a wonderful book. Sure, it’s a teen book, but it’s really a wonderful story of growing self-confidence, friendship, and a little bad luck
