I’m a fan of the Augusta Goodnight books, in much the same way that I am a fan of comfy old slippers. They’re easy to get into, they don’t take a whole lot of concentration, and they are just generally enjoyable, fluffy little things. If you’re looking for hard-hitting detective fiction, this ain’t it, but if you’re looking for something to curl up and devour in an evening or two alongside a cup of tea, I recommend this book.

One minor thing that I noticed – I started with one of the later ones in the series before I read this one, and I think the author fleshes out the character better as she goes. This one you can sort of tell that she’s trying to sort out the character, but she does a pretty bang-up job of it.
