A story about this — 1 year ago
I’m on pause right now. My mom is on vacation and wanted to bring the whole series with her. So now I’m waiting for my brother to lend me his book 5.
In the meantime…I’ll read something else.

God it’s boring.
I think I didn’t like it because I had just seen the movie, I only got half way through it. I gave up and now I’m reading the 6th book, much more interesting because I don’t know what’s going to happen.
This one made me sad…… im not going to say anything else cause i dont want to ruin it for anyone who hasnt read it yet!
Hardest book in the series to read- since I knew nearly zilch about it!
I absolutely hate Umbridge- the new DADA teacher. In fact, I hate her so much, I wanted Emma Thompsen (who plays her in the movie) to suffer bodily harm. Sorry Emma, but it’s true. And it’s a testament to how well a writer Rowling is.
Sadly, the end of the voyage draws near.
I like the political commentary of bumbling bureaucrats more concerned with image than the job their supposed to be doing, and how government interferes with education.
I’m in Book 6 now, and it seems that Book 5 (this one) has a large hole in the plot concerning how Harry and Sirius communicate. But maybe this gets cleared up later.
There are some entertaining parts and lots of set up for the next two books, but I found it slow going at times. Needed to have a couple hundred pages and a sub-plot or two cut at a minimum.
Nine and a half chapters to go, gawwww!!! I need to finish by July 13th, I believe is when the movie comes out. Probably wont see it till the crowds die down though, so give or take a couple of weeks, haha.
It still hasn’t gotten much more exciting to me, but I’m still always wondering what is going to happen next. Or wait to see what the hell that Professor Umbridge is going to pull next, geez I hate her..
But itz starting off sooo slow. usually what getts me going iz a big shockin surprize but i hope i get into it. right now im at the part where harry goes to the hearing to see if he’s expelled. hmmm whatever. tha bookz to big if u ask me but hey….anything to get outta my life
It’s not as exciting as the other ones, and I’m only half way through. Fourth book is still my favourite so far. Hopefully this one gets more interesting for me, once I can get around to reading it again!
So far I am feeling very sorry for Harry, and becoming angry with all other characters. Maybe another reason why I can’t get into it is because I already know what’s going to happen.
i think this is my favourite Harry potter book, but i think i need to read it again and see if i still feel that way! i actually dont remeber what happens.
You could have cut this book in half and it would have been far better. A lot of unnecessary clutter, in what was a good book once you waded through.
Quite entertaining. Rawling deserves much of her fame for constructing a fascinating wizarding world. However, the book suffers from a bit of a let down at the end. The build-up of a weapon that He-who-must-not-be-named had been seeking for months is deflated, revealed to be a potentless prophecy.
The fifth book was very dark and just plain sad. While the previous four books contained increasingly serious subject matter, they were still able to maintain a sense of fun and games. There was so little happiness to go around in the fifth book. I find that I don’t really like Harry. He handles things completely differently than I would. I would try to make some sort of peace with Snape and brown nose it up a little bit. Harry continues to make his life much worse than it COULD be by being a bratty little asshole. I understand he’s been through a lot, but most of the time, he’s only thinking of himself.
I have a feeling the 6th and 7th books are going to be more doom and gloom. I have no problem with that, but I would like some happier times ahead for Harry in return.
Now that I’ve finished book 6, I can see the need to reread the Order of the Phoenix.
being my third time reading it, i didn’t cry this time around. but i certainly choked.
I’ve read all 5 Harry Potter books three times now!
