I read this for the first time about a year ago. I read it so quickly that I didn’t remember any of it, so I had to reread it before I could start Half Blood Prince. Harry was a bit too angsty for me in this one. I couldn’t identify as well as I could with the other books. It’s not my favorite, but it certainly wasn’t a bad book.

Tessa and I discovered the other day that I don’t remember anything about this book and that I need to reread it before beginning the sixth one.
I do not wish I were a teenager again. And I hope that Harry is a little less teenager-ish in Book 6. It was fun to read, but definitely not my favorite.
than this one. Too sad and angsty, yes, and not enough happy things in it. It was still great, though, and an equally good page-turner as the rest of the series.

A gift from Sarah & Joel – will be a great Christmas break read.

Excellent, the best yet!

Rowling’s strength is not narrative drive … this book has taken much too long to get Harry to Hogwarts. However, she is great at atmosphere and details (love the airplane memos at the Ministry!).
Yup, it’s good. Not the best of the series, but a good, quick read.

Actually re-reading since I didn’t have any nice books to read for fun.

Ooooooo, I FINALLY get to read this! I bought it for my son, but for some reason he hasn’t been particularly interested, so I scarfed it so I could read it, and I am so glad I did! So far, it’s dark, angry, angtsy, and wonderful. :) And turned out awesome, if still dark, in the end!

Not bad…although I think the other ones were better. I hope we don’t have to wait two years for the next one.
Ray’s lent the book to me, so I’ll see if I can finish it in the couple of days before I leave town.

I could not wait for this book to come out! Went to the release party at Borders and waited in line with all the rest of the 300+ people. Fortunately, bought it and got out of there within 20 minutes and finished it two days later. I’ve heard some not-so-positive comments about it (that it’s not as good as the rest), but my whole “thing” with books is once you’re deeply connected to a fantasy world found in a book, it doesn’t matter what the characters do, you just want to be with them in their world, no matter what. We’re such HP fans and I wish we could afford to collect even more than we’ve been able to so far.

It was my escape from “what I should be doing.” And it was great for that!

Ugh. Unsatisfying ending, and Harry is so very annoying. Well, teenage boys are …

I don’t care that I’m 34 years old, I LOVE the Harry Potter books. I would have loved them so much as a young(er) child, it might have been dangerous. This one is just as good as the others, though it has a feeling of tension running through it that the others didn’t.

Oh my… nobody comes out of this well, do they? But another wonderful HP book, nonetheless.
