WORTH CONSUMING!

Interesting theme. In my opinion, it provides a topic that I have reflected on many times since – ie. when I first watched Apocalypse Now, when I had a friend come back from Iraq – the breakdown of human beings outside of civilized society, while extreme in this fictional novel, it’s a theme that is true. Worth reading!

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

If you can determine an authors personality from their work, William Golding is not a man I would ever want to meet. I can’t imagine him being anything but a bore. If it was the 50s I’m sure he’d have something interesting to say (an interesting underlying message) but he would take too long to get to the point and offer no intrigue as to what the message actually was. That was what I felt about this book. It offered up nothing about human nature that I didn’t already know – and it was offered to me in the most tedious manner possible. I didn’t care about the characters, I wasn’t at all intrigued and the ending was so unbelievably cliche that it reminded me of finishing my stories at primary school with “and I woke up. It was all a dream”.

The good point: if you didn’t know this about human nature, you would get something out of it but it’s a dull ride to get there.

WORTH CONSUMING!

It was a compulsory reading at my high school, but I loved it. One of the best books I know. We had to read it in English, then I read it in my native tongue and few years after I bought English version again, because this book really got me!

Human Nature — 2 years ago

A twisted and disturbing tale, which reveals human nature, the deep seated evils that lie even within children.

A band of children shipwreck on an island, with no adults to govern them, the children revert to primitive, wild behavior.

The children have not yet been sufficiently taught to supress their nature.

One of the books I was forced to read in high school. I don’t really have much of an opinion of it. It was depressing and kind of scary if you really thought about it I guess. Put yourself in that situation…:-|
