And so the Legends of Dune trilogy is rounded off, ensuring we have all the key systems in place for the original books. Here’s the start of the Bene Geserit, the Spacing Guild, Mentats and the bitter feud between Atreides and Harkonnen.
It was okay, but all very shallow. Some elements felt like putting a tick in the box, and I’d suggest everything is initiated but not followed through: perhaps taking just one thing and exploring it in more depth would have been more satisfying.
Still, an enjoyable enough read, although still mainly because it fills in a few pre-gaps from a far, far superior series, rather than standing on its own at all.
